About Jim:

Jim Cook, a freelance Illustrator based in Point Pleasant, NJ brings his creative vision to life under the title "CookToonZ".

Jim's journey as an artist traces back to childhood, where his passion for doodling began.  Influenced by the vibrant cartoons and toys of the 90's, his creative journey took flight, fueled by a deep-seated curiosity for the unconventional and a fascination with oddities and circus culture.  This curiosity only deepened during his time at the Ringling School of Art in Design, where he honed his skills before earning his BFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, NY.

Drawing inspiration from his early artistic explorations, Jim's art is steeped in the nostalgia of 80s and 90s pop culture, infused with elements of classic literary adventures, fascination with the female figure, and a penchant for the peculiar and bizarre.

With expertise across various drawing and painting mediums, Jim showcases a versatile range of artistic expression. He specializes in traditional scratchboard etchings:  Scratchboard is a relief medium,  a form of direct engraving where the artist uses sharp knives to scratch off the dark ink to reveal a white layer beneath the surface.  While currently engaged in commissioned projects, Jim also dedicates himself to cultivating a personal portfolio that reflects his unique artist perspective.
